I have been using the Haynes manuals for years. They are extremely well written and much easier to follow that the Chilton series in my opinion. These have alot more illustration and more year model specific. Chilton tries to combine too many year models and body styles into one volume and is alot harder to sort through. Fully illustrated wiring diagrams also are very helpful

Being the owner of a GMC dealership, I am constantly looking for ways to improve my business and customer service. This book has done both for us. The certified GMC technicians that I have employed at my dealership are very enthusiastic about how in depth the repair manual is. Many of the technicians I have on site use this book as a reference guide for any and all repairs. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking to make repairs on their vehicle.

I have a 2001 Tahoe LS with the 5.3l motor…this is a decent manual that I have used a number of times for servicing the braking system, replacing shocks and soon sway bars. Essentials like torque specs are all listed in the appropriate areas. There are more pictures than I anticipated, but you can always use more. 🙂

Even an experienced mechanic would have trouble with this book if tackling a never-before-done task. I should have gone with Chilton. That’s what we have always used…. live and learn.

The Ciltons manual is thicker than the Haynes manual. I bought both so I could have two different views. I found that the manuals are identical word for word. Each section is word for word. Don’t believe me, well get them both and you will see. Get Chiltons don’t get both.

This is a must have manual for the do-it-yourself who needs assistance making repairs to your vehicle. I did find at least one error where the section number did not correctly list the page number for the problem.

I purchased this book for instructions on a transfer case replacement. The pictures and detailed instructions made the entire procedure very straightforward and the savings in shop fees easily recuperated the purchase cost of the book.

This manual was exactly what we needed. We recently purchased a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado. Although it was in good shape, we needed to make a few minor repairs. This manual helped us to know exactly what to do.

I bought this manual for two reasons:
First, because the owners manual didn’t describe in detail what should be greased as part of the regular maintenance.
Second, at some point I’ll have mechanical problems with the truck and I wanted to have this manual on-hand when that happens.

I learned a lot from this manual relating to maintenace an inspection.
What I didn’t expect was the tutorial on nut and bolt grades at the beginning of the book. It made for a good read 😉

I was tired of paying $90 at the dealer or service garage for a new fuel filter. With this book, a $15 Fram fuel filter from the autoparts store I saved $45 already and didn’t blow myself up or burn down the garage. I would call that success for this old gearhead. Amazon is the best!
