This manual claims to cover the 2003-2011 Honda Accord models. The manual claims to be based on a complete tear-down and re-assembly of an Accord. It appears that was done on a 2003 Accord, not the newer 2009-2011 version. There has been significant model change during the 203-2011 period. The photos and information I have reviewed so far are not current with respect to my 2009 Accord.

I wanted to see where the oil filter was located. There is a photo of the engine underside to identify parts locations. It does not point out the location of the oil filter and the filter is not visible in the photo. It’s hard to understand why a manual aimed at the do-it-your-selfer wouldn’t have this basic information. There is a later photo of the oil filter, but taken as a close-up that doesn’t help in locating the part or contortions required to access it. I suppose the filter is on the aft side of the engine, but the manual is no help in locating this critical maintenance item. I expect this is indicative of the quality of information elsewhere in the manual- incomplete re: some details that matter. I’m sure the manual will be helpful in some regard.

For good information, I will shelve this manual and buy a year-specific factory shop manual- should have done that in the beginning. In my experience, factory manuals cost a good deal more, but are both current and complete than these third-party manuals.

This Hayne’s manual is certainly not for the entire 8 model years that it claimed. I had an older version which covered 2003-2004 Honda Accord model years and it is fine. It is certainly not an OEM manual in any means but it gives some information on what are key feature and parts of the model year. I usually wait a year or two before they come out because Hayne’s always lack behind the OEM. The OEM manual cost over $100 for each year and it also assumed that you have Honda training to use it too. This manual does not cover the Honda 2008-20012 because it is another generation of Honda Accord with more features and functionalities that does not exist on the older models. Hayne’s should spend the time and effort to put together the relevant information for one generation of car regardless of the manufacturers or they risk lose all future sales.

Very happy with the mannual. I ready sometimes if I have a question, found out I need to change mannual transmission fluid at 100000 miles only. That saves time and money.
