This was quite a useful handbook but I would have preferred one which was more model specific.I found navigation in the book to be tricky. One consolation though the exact same handbook was selling in Australia for twice the price from Amazon which included the freight. Four times the price NOT including the freight! Go figure! Always check Amazon FIRST
If you use the book in normal garage condition 5 or 6 time, pages are getting loose.
The information / instructions are good, although I would have liked a little bit more info on parts that wear often ( bushings sizes / rod sizes )
Over the years, I have owned dozens of Haynes books and still have 5 for my and my children’s other vehicles.
The 1993-2004 Jeep manual is by FAR the cheesiest Haynes manual I have ever had. It is almost useless; had I bought it directly from Haynes or an autoparts store, I would have returned it immediately with this writeup included.
In order to sell more books to a wider ‘year’ of audiences, Haynes merely changed the years on the book’s cover and did very little else. Most of the sections are applicable to 1993 thru 1998 but totally drop us off the cliff for the 1999 thru 2004 data.
And yes, much did change in those years. I believe a full vehicle tear down was done once upon a time but not recently.
I am going to have to pay the piper twice to get a decent reference manual. Haynes, really failed us with this book. SAVE YOUR MONEY, go Chiltons or Bentley or online on this one.
What can I say! Thank you, it is a great Manual. I knew everything that I NEEDED to know before I purchased the product. I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived. It was brand spanking New not “Used” as advertised. I use it every chance I get to save big $$$money. Not sure of something, I can research my Manual first. It has already saved me $$$money. I was prepared to spend big $$$Money, Time, Inconvenience, and Ripoff at the local Jeep dealership for some costly Electrical Diagnostic and Repairs, when my problems were a loose and corroded positive Terminal (New Terminal $2.99) and Tail Light Bulb Socket (not in Stock at my local auto part store $7.99), which needed to be cleaned and properly lined up with the Prongs of the Socket only. I definitely highly recommend and will purchase from this Great Amazon Seller again. Many thanks from my family, too. The $$$money that we saved can now purchase life necessities, such as food, shelter, power, water and gasoline for our Jeep.
These books are great for any car. They show in detail ways to fix your car. This is great for anyone wanting to know how to fix cars or beginner mechanics. Always a good thing to have around and saves money in repairs if you do it yourself!
This book, and I might presume the series, are OK for a little extra info for the home user who hasn’t attempted certain repairs before, so need a general guide. But I’ve too often found that the detail I’d like isn’t in here. For example, to replace certain things like the heater control door, it tells me that removing the dash should be done by a repair shop. Come on, give me a few tips, and we’d get thru it. It’s nice to have the photos, but the book covers too long a period, so that a photo showing a picture for one era doesn’t show what it really is for an earlier or later year.
It is a very helpful reference but unfortunately it is not complete!
for example nothing mentioned about the sunroof repair and the AC repair section must be expanded. However, it is a great reference for every JEEP owner.
Very helpful guide, I recommend having a guide for every car you own.
If you can make small repairs yourself you save tons of money versus taking it to a shop..
Doesn’t hurt to know about the interior workings of your car either.
I’m the biggest do-it-yourself guy out there. I have these books for every vehicle I own. Not sure how to fix your car or what you need to do it? This book will tell ya. I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4×4 and obviously this book covers my vehicle. Tells ya everything and anything you’ll ever need to know about your Jeep.
Disappointed in the book, specifically the AC repair instructions:The only thing this book does not say directly is,that you may be better off having the repair done by a dealership. My openion is that in that regard this book is a waste of money.
