If you own a bike then this manual is a must have. I am new to motorcycles, but have long worked on other vehicles. Just tore down the bike then rebuilt it, all with the help of the book. It convinced a friend to get the manual for his bike.
I have worked on alot of cars from changing oil to full rebuilds on motors, stock and high performance. I was a little leary on tearing into the motor of my V-star 1100 custom because I have never worked on motorcycle engines and the Yamaha shop made it out to be ALOT harder than it was. This manual was very detailed on how to replace my starter oneway clutch which saved me between $400-$450 dollars in just labor not to mention the savings that I had on finding the OEM part on line about $150 dollars less than the dealership. I strongly recommend the manual! Well worth the money that I paid for it!!!
A great companion to have when maintaining your bike. It is not the Dummy’s guide to VStar though. Some previous shop knowledge and this book is a great combo. I unfortunately to did not have the previous shop experience so there is a lot of apprehension when trying to get my bike tuned and rolling.. But this is a personal fault not the books.
Had to replace a fork seal on my 2007 V-Star Custom. The instructions were very detailed and allowed me to successfully complete my first repair. Provided everything I needed from the amount of fork oil to special tools required for the job. I look forward to my future savings by using the manual to make repairs on my own that a mechanic would charge up to triple the amount to accomplish.
Good quality information in this Clymer’s manual. It is worth the money as an addendum to the free internet manuals. Call me old school, but there is nothing like having a manual in hand while dealing with the problem at hand.
I have to say this is a very good guide when working on motorcycles. I have already replaced front tire, changed my own oil (you have to pull off your exhaust ) replaced front brake and ordered rear brakes. I saved $$$ already.

It had every thing I needed to do the work on my bike. Great book. If you don’t have one get one.
