AFTER READING THRU THE BOOK IT DID NOT COVER THE TOPICS I NEEDED AND DID NOT SHOW THE PICTURES TO REMOVE THE PART. I WISH I COULD GET ONE BOOK ABOUT MY JEEP THAT SHOWS THE STEP BY STEP PICTURES OF HOW PARTS ARE REMOVED AND REINSTALLED.
So I just purchased this because I was going to get myself prepped before I start doing complete maintenance on my 2001 Jeep Cherokee which I just purchased. The title says its for “JEEP Wagoneer/Comanche/Cherokee 1984-01 Repair Manual” but if you look on the smaller print between the title and the red Grand Cherokee it says “Covers All U.S. and Canadian models of Jeep Cherokee, Grand Cherokee (1993 thru 1998), Comanche, Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer (1993 only)”. Soooo…it doesn’t cover the year of my Cherokee. It isn’t really much of a problem since most of the mechanical are almost all the same but of course there are differences between different generations of each vehicle. For example, 1997-2001 Cherokee looks the same but there are certain things that are different between 1997-99 and 2000-01. Case in point, front wheel bearings…for 1997-99 the bearings can be replaced on its own but the 2000-01 the whole wheel hub has to be replaced (that was mentioned on the manual).
All in all, it helps as a general guide on doing some DIY on your vehicle. If you have the 2001-01 Cherokee models this will probably won’t help you as much, unless you really do have some mechanical background and will be ok with just using this manual to help guide you around a Jeep inline 6 the way I use it.
I would definitely contact this vendor again! The book came as promised, wrapped in plastic and in perfect shape.
So far I have used this for axle and engine repair and I couldn’t have done my home project without it.
This repair manual by Chilton is fine… if you have an ’84 – ’97 but if you have a ’98 – ’01 forget it, even though the title and description lists it as the correct manual, there are no addendums for the final production years. It leaves out all the electronics, some of the key suspension parts and various other details. Mine was new in the wrapper so no excuse there. I eventually returned it after multiple frustrations.
