I didn’t get what I ordered and payed for. I ordered a chilton repair manual and received a haynes repair manual. They are made by the same company but the chilton seems to show a little bit more detail than the haynes book does. The manual serves it’s purpose but it would be nice to receive what I ordered.
I bought this book, because I was changing my Spark Plug Wires on my S10 pickup. When I connected all the wires the way the diagram showed the firing order to be. It wouldn’t even start!!! I had to find a diagram from my cell phone in order for it to be correct and accurate!!! I wasted $27 on a book that didn’t even help me!!! Very disapointed!!!
The manual is fine for doing work on auxiliary systems, but no good at all for engine work or getting specifications about engines.
This manual was of fine quality and scope. Pages were clean, neat not torn and great care was used in storage. Was able to be used upon receiving for repair of vehicle. Was shipped appropriately and packaged well for transport.

Do a little web searching and you’ll find that many people are looking for a vacuum hose routing diagram for these vehicles. A repair manual is the natural place to look for this, but don’t bother looking in the Chilton manual; it’s not there. When you can find a mention of a vacuum hose, there is no diagram, photograph, or any detail.
I don’t know if there is a better repair manual out there, but don’t waste your money on this one.
Very helpful. I only needed information for my 2003 Chevy Blazer but the additional information is great too. Wish my belt would stop squeaking.
Chilton sure isn’t as god as I remember. I guess since being bought by Haynes, they’ve adopted their style. Basically nothing is very detailed, and a lot of the real content is just under the captions of the photos instead of the actual instructions(“Refer to illustration”). I haven’t yet come across anything that was outright wrong, but you ought to be careful and not fully trust the book.
That said, I still gave this 3 stars because it has been useful in getting me started and knowing where to look.
Good service from the seller but new Chilton manuals are terrible. My Haynes from the 80s is an excellent manual but the newer ones are almost worthless. Very poor pictures, very limited and inaccurate details and they try to cram too many models into one book. They spend more time telling you to unhook your battery than they do explaining the more sophisticated procedures you bought it for. Save your money and look the info up on line or buy a used shop manual off ebay. Chiltons bought out Haynes so they’re almost identical but the Haynes is even worse.
