These manuals are almost word for word. The Chitons manual is thicker.Get the Chiltons manual if you want one they are identical.
nice manual for the price, needed it for an axle seal replacement, included all steps with pics to replace rear axle seal. beats paying hundreds of dollars for the factory manual.
Chevrolet made a model change to the Silverado pickup in 2007 but they also sold the old style Silverado in 2007 as the “Silverado Classic” which is covered by this manual. When it says “2006”, read “2007 Classic”
This book starts where the owners manual stops. For the average pick-up owner, it will help you do mid-level repairs and keep your vehicle running for years longer. This manual will guide you through repair procedures step by step. By reading what is involved in a repair, you can make an informed decision about your ability to accomplish the maintenance task yourself or take your vehicle to a licensed mechanic. Either way you should save money with this book. When you know what is involved in a repair, it is harder for someone to pad your bill.
Good book, but combines too many models together, where you have to keep sorting through a lot of non-applicale repairs to find your specific vehicle’s needs…then information can sometimes be too generic.
This manual might be useful if someone needs to find the oil drain plug, or the dipstick, do not look for any detailed information.
I purchased this looking for a simple wiring schematic for the air conditioning system, my fan speed regulator died. (digital control) Despite seeing less than stellar reviews, I decided to purchase this because I’ve had GREAT luck previously with Chiltons for an 87 Mustang, 88 Firebird, even my 76 Vette was “helpful” with several repairs.
Unfortunately, the complexity of modern cars, even the simple air conditioning systems, are not represented in these consumer grade DIY books anymore, it is just too complicated. I don’t fault Chilton entirely, but be warned….don’t look for detail!!
What can I say. It’s the same as any other Haynes manual. Good descriptions and pictures. Invaluable if you plan to do the work yourself.
This is a money saver! We have used this on my 2004 Suburban and fixed it immediately. No more mechanic shops!
This book is very generalized and inaccurate for the purposes it was purchased. The price was right, but the book lacks the accurate details for the maintenance information I desired.
For the person who likes to do his or her own repair on their Chevy truck, this is a must have manual. No, it is not a full shop manual, not for $19. full shop manuals cost over 6 time that amount. It does covers lots of items that you will encounter in your normal and maybe not so normal home preventive maintenance and repair of your vehicle.
VERY similar to Haynes manuals which have been helpful in getting started on other repairs. However, both manuals have absolutely NO information AT ALL regarding repairing or replacing heating and air conditioning doors or actuators, fresh air intake door, doors that direct air to defrost/floor/vents, etc. The book literally says; “Temp is controlled by mixing heated air with fresh air, using a system of doors in the ducts, and a blower motor.” No info describing this “system of doors”, how to access, replace, or troubleshoot. Does cover replacing the blower motor and heater core though. No help to me in this case.
