I have used Haynes for awhile. I bought a 2009 Expedition and of course bought a Haynes. Although this may be good for the trucks it is not good for a 2009 Expedition. Every general maintenance tip this gave was wrong. Better to use online forums to get info or a more specific manual for this particular vehicle.
These are good general purpose manuals for your car or truck. They Trent to cover a number of years a several models , so they often don’t have the exact same model as you but they are similar enough it normally works. Also the price is great on Amazon
If you’ve bought a Hayne’s repair manual before, you know what you’ll get. If you haven’t, the manual covers 95% of the detail you need. You’ll have to spend a lot more for factory type manuals if you need that last 5%. I grew up using Chilton’s, which are slightly different, but the idea is the same. Everyone should have one of these books for each of their cars, in my opinion.
I bought this manual for my Ford Expedition. I’ve had about 10 or so different vehicle manuals published by Hanes. They are always the best out there. This one is not exception. The descriptions are detailed. The photos are clear. The included electrical diagrams are very helpful. The only way to do any better is to buy a factory service manual, which would cost a lot more.
From the title of the book you would expect that it covers Ford Pick-ups, Expeditions, & Lincoln Navigators for the years 1997-2009. This is not the case. It only covers Ford Pick-ups from 1997-2003. Be very careful about the year for your particular make and model.
Despite the title, this manual was not written with the Lincoln Navigator in consideration. Actually, after reading it, I don’t think the Ford Expedition or the F-150 played much of a role in the writing of this book. It claims to be based on a complete teardown, but most of the maintenance instructions are vague, general and could apply to any automobile on the market. I bought it looking for model specific advice. Yes I know that to change spark plugs the old ones are removed, the new ones are gapped and installed. What I want to know is what has to happen in order to reach the spark plugs and in what sequence on my very cluttered and electronics heavy Lincoln engine bay. This is not the publication for that. It doesn’t even have any photos of the Lincoln engine bay (which is different enough from the Ford’s to matter). I hardly ever return anything, anywhere, especially online purchases, but this book is such a waste of paper and ink that it is going back. Why not one star. It does have torque settings and fluid capacities and warns you not to climb under the car when its only held up by a jack and that the airbags will explode in your face if you are a complete moron. That’s gotta be worth a star
READ THE TITLE~!!! — The actual BOOK TITLE —
Amazon’s “title” for this publication can mislead you to thinking this book covers you vehicle, when it well may not.
Covers everything I was looking for and more. Could use a little more organization between SUV’s and Trucks. For a novice it could be confusing.
I always enjoy doing some of the vehicle maintenance myself and this book allows me to do that safely. It also helps educate me so that I can talk intelligently when dealing with the service departments on jobs too big for me to tackle. I especially liked that the book is good for both my Ford pickup and Expedition killing two birds with one stone. Amazon was terrific as usual.
I was familiar with this product, so I knew what to expect. Product arrived new and in good packaging. This is exactly what it says it is, the Haynes repair manual. If you want to do your own maintenance, then this is the manual for you.
