i have been in the car repair buisness for 6 years and i never went to school for the profession. i have learned all i know from chiltons books they are very knowledable on all aspects of a motor vehicle, from to to bottom. If i have not learned it from the book, i have learned from a friend who has learned it from you. as a female going into a profession like this was very difficult to be accepted so before i did i learned from you. thank you for everything.
This Chilton is a pretty decent reference book. Its better than the Chilton repair manual as this one has wiring diagrams the other doesnt.
As a sometimes mechanic, this book has been average for me. A few times I have pinpointed a problem with my Camaro, and according to the book, it’s a walk in the park. Once you get down to it, reality sets in, and you realise the incompleteness of the info. I personally would prefer a lot more photos, and more realistic descriptions.
I looked up the diagram for the PCV and it doesn’t show anything about the 2.8L only the 2.5L, 5.0L, and the 5.7L. If it’s not in the emissions section of the book, then could someone tell me what part of the book it is in. Also I picked the book up cheaper at Parts America. It was only 12.99+T.
Basic information. Not near as good as the Factory Manual. Good for general maintenance work. If you are going to do a complete rebuild or restoration I would recommend the Factory manual.
Good electrical diagrams and mechanical guide, but lacks detail in the interior work. Like, taking out the dash. Directions are limited and terms used are not clear on what is being described.
Bought this book for my son’s first car, hoping to teach him a little about basic repair and maintenance. The book is so poorly printed that most of the images are hard if not impossible to use. Many of the sections are not specific enough to the car that he has to help shed light on the repair being performed.
I haven’t tried other manuals on this specific car, but I remember 20 years ago when I was a mechanic that Chilton’s was THE manual to have. That’s really changed.
Their shop manuals have been used by many auto dealerships and shops for years. Now these total car care manuals are model and make specific for the shade tree mechanics such as myself. The total car care series contains everything that I would ever need to know about my car, and the electrical diagrams are amazing. This one’s a keeper.
Arrived fast and was in better shape than expected. Would buy from them again.
It’s not your factory service manual but gives you enough info to fix your car. Sometimes its frustrating with instructions like” remove the dash” with no other steps but for 20 bucks new you are not going to get anything else.
