If you buy this book like I did because you want to make relatively simple (but potentially very expensive) repairs yourself, say like fix an electric window, or replace a heater blower, or an automatic radio antenna but not its motor, or understand the vacuum system so you can trouble-shoot and fix vacuum-dependant things, I have one word for you: FORGEDDABOUDIT! This Chilton is pathetically superficial. A complete waste of time. Over-rated, over-hyped, and insultingly vague. Burn this!

This book is a waste, it covers so many different models that it wont go into good detail for any of them.

I had a 95 Deville so i got this book. Waste of money!

It covers too many vehicles, and each vehicle is different in its own through out the years, so its like 10 different cars it covers……….

So by them covering so many cars, they dont go into good detail for any of them, and most of the time no pictures.

If you dont know the name and location of every single part on 4 diffent Cadillacs between 90-98, this book will lead you know where!

So just go online to car forums and youll find everything you need, this book sucks!

I bought this manual for my husband because we were lucky enough to find a 1996 Fleetwood (the last year they were built). He already had an older Fleetwood, but there was enough different that we needed this manual. Not meant to be a comprehensive shop manual, this one is good for the occasional ‘shadetree’ mechanic. Lots of good, basic information and helpful hints, but don’t expect to become an expert based on the content. Definately worth the price, though – in saved time and anguish!

I liked the clear pictures and simple step by step instructions to maintain or do common repairs to my Caddy. Chilton is the best value for most repairs.

The Factory manuals: $104.00 to $40. each (there are two, One for the motor and transmission, and one for the Body and everything else)

The factory manuals are far more complete, giving very detailed information and description for every connector and screw.

Depending on your need to know, the Chilton manual may be enough.

It weighs about 18 oz., One GM manual weighs 108 oz.

I finally bought both the Chilton for most tasks, and the GM manual when I really needed more information for very uncommon tasks.

This book does not cover every aspect of the car. It does help though. If you buy this book you might want to get the Haynes version as well. Two books printed by the same company yet very different…odd. Between the two of them you can get almost all the info you need. Both books are severly lacking/or just plain wrong in the body interior section. If you are lucky enough to own the official GM Service manuals for your car and you are not a professional mechanic,The Chilton & Haynes books will help in understanding what it is the service manual is trying to tell you. Sort of like one of those dummies books that were popular not too long ago :o)

I wanted this repair guide – paid a fair price with excellent delivery. All things considered – I would buy again. Am I biased …. of course I am – I could have spent $60 and did not. Spent $14. Bargains’s are …. on AMAZON!
